Lake Geneva, WI – Oct. 25, 2024 – Nei-Turner Media Group announces the acquisition of Northern Wilds Magazine, a monthly title that celebrates the lifestyle of Lake Superior’s North Shore, the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness and southwestern Ontario with engaging content and photography.

Northern Wilds Magazine, available in both Northern Minnesota and southwestern Ontario, boasts the largest distribution on the North Shore. Up to 18,000 copies are distributed to all Cook County, Minnesota households and hundreds of subscribers in the Twin Cities. Plus, it is available free at 150 locations and through digital distribution to more than 2,300 subscribers.

“We are thrilled to welcome Northern Wilds Magazine and its staff and readers to our growing team and roster of now more than two dozen titles,” said Barb Krause, publisher at Nei-Turner Media Group. “Our goal is to expand the reach of the publication and spotlight the talented writers and photographers who are dedicated to showcasing this sought-after region.”

Created by Amber Pratt and Shawn Perich in 2004, Northern Wilds Magazine helped realize their dream to tell the stories of the area through a printed newspaper. They grew the magazine into a small media company over the last 20 years. Perich passed away from cancer in 2023; Pratt will remain on staff in an advisory role.

“We searched for a new owner that not only would be able to carry on the tradition of Northern Wilds Magazine, but also bring new energy, support for growth and the ability to navigate the ever-changing media landscape,” said Pratt. “We are grateful to Nei-Turner Media Group for their shared passion to leverage its resources to extend the magazine’s abilities to better serve readers, advertisers and community.”
