Michael Olesen is the owner and brewmaster of Stockholm’s Restaurant & Brewery in downtown Geneva. The idea for Stockholm’s first took shape during Michael’s time at the University of Illinois in 1984, where he studied the restaurant industry in depth. Life’s twists and turns delayed the opening until 2002, but since then, Stockholm’s has become a local institution.
As owner and brewmaster, Michael describes his role as “giving my crew the tools they need” to deliver the Stockholm’s experience.
Every dish is crafted with the highest quality ingredients, and each beer is brewed in the Old World tradition, served with heart by a seasoned, dedicated staff that truly sets Stockholm’s apart.
In addition to his work at Stockholm’s, Michael has operated Geneva Investment Group, an independent investment brokerage, for nearly 40 years. He is also deeply engaged in the community, currently serving as chair of the board for the Geneva Chamber of Commerce and as a board member of Friends of the Viking Ship.
Previously, he served for 15 years with the Geneva Community Chest, contributing to a wide range of community initiatives.
