Spotlight on…Shayna Mace!

This week we sat down with Shayna Mace, the Editorial Director of several magazines, including Lakeshore Living, Experience Wisconsin, Experience Michigan, and Arizona Meetings & Events.

Check out Shayna’s interview below, and check back each week as we shine a spotlight on another Nei-Turner employee.

Hometown:

Waukesha, Wis.

Street cred:

Previously, I spent quite a few years as the senior and style editor for a city-regional magazine in Wisconsin. I’ve also been the creative director at a luxury eyewear/accessory e-commerce startup website. I’ve worked specifically on the social media side as well for the second largest convention and visitors bureau in the state, handling their social media strategy. Throughout my career I’ve always freelanced for various local and statewide media outlets on lifestyle topics and currently am a style expert for WISC-TV in Madison.

What is your creative outlet?

My work! Specifically, writing and style. Writing helps me learn about new things and write about things that I’m passionate about, like food, travel and style. I’ve also styled countless editorial spreads throughout the years, so showcasing my creative vision in the pages of a magazine that can give others inspiration is quite satisfying.

What’s your favorite part about working for Nei-Turner Media Group?

The people are great! Also, I enjoy the publications I manage. I like showing people through our pages the best things to do in Experience Wisconsin and Experience Michigan, beautiful home décor trends in all three editions of Lakeshore Living and how to enjoy the gorgeous Lake Geneva area in their visitors magazine.

In the office, you are the…

one who is talking about the latest installment of the Bachelor or Bachelorette with coworkers! Or talking to my fellow moms about how their kids are doing.

If you didn’t have to sleep, what would you do with the extra time?

Oh, man. Lots of things. Spend more time with my kids. Learn a new language. Just fill my head with tons of knowledge, reading and listening to podcasts. Travel…

If you could turn any activity into an Olympic sport, what would you have a good chance at winning medal for?

Shoe shopping. You don’t want to know how many pairs I have in my closet…

Lakes or ocean?

Ocean. I love the sound of waves and sitting in a lounge chair in the sand.

What’s something you’ve been meaning to try but just haven’t gotten around to it?

Travel more! My husband and I both love visiting new places and experiencing everything there is to do somewhere we haven’t been.

Summarize yourself in 3 words.

Passionate about putting out the best possible product in every issue, every time. It’s not three words, but that definitely encompasses how I am about my work!
